Hiebing - Chamberlain wed

IOWA CITY -- Tawny Hiebing and Kurt Chamberlain both of Iowa City wed on July 22, 2017 at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Iowa City. Father Steve Witt performed the 1 p.m. double ring ceremony.    Parents of the couple are Dan and Gerilyn Hiebing, Sheboygan, WI; and Jerry and Joan M. Chamberlain, Harlan.

Nelson-Starr will exchange October vows

HARLAN -- Brianna Nelson and Nicholas Starr both of Council Bluffs will marry on October 21 at United Methodist Church in Harlan.    Brianna is the daughter of Lori Nelson, Harlan; and Steve Nelson, Manilla. Nicholas is the son of J and Tonya Olesen, Avoca; and John and Leslie Starr, Jacksonville, FL.

Kansas City couple marks 50th anniversary

KANSAS CITY, MO -- Ron and Pat Mikels of Kansas City, MO observed their 50th wedding anniversary on September 30.    Ron is a former Woodbine resident. They reside at 3706 Northwest 60th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64151. An open house was held in their honor in Kansas City on October 1. 

Thomsens celebrate 50 years of marriage

HARLAN -- Dennis and Janet Thomsen of Harlan will mark their 50th wedding anniversary on October 7. They have celebrated their anniversary with a family trip to Marco Island, FL.    The couple’s daughters and sons-in-law are Kris and Rob Melcher, Papillion, NE; and Michelle and Jeremy Leinen, Elkhorn, NE. The Thomsens have five grandchildren.  

Earling couple marks 40th

EARLING -- Joe and Gail Gross of Earling marked their 40th wedding anniversary on September 17. They celebrated on September 17 with their children at a Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.    The couple’s family includes Jenny and Alex Jensen, Papillion, NE; Rachel Gross and Dustin Halstead, Omaha; and Allison Gross and Tyler Bruck, Portsmouth. Joe and Gail have two grandsons and one granddaughter. 

Schult-Schwery

OMAHA -- Suzie Schult and Chris Schwery both of Omaha were married on July 15, 2017 at The Pella at Blackstone in Omaha. The 4:30 p.m. double ring ceremony was performed by Officiant Dave Bishop.    Parents of the couple are Doug and Jody Schult, Fort Collins, CO; and John and LuAnn Schwery, Panama. 

Arkfeld- Sellner

PORTSMOUTH -- Jennifer Arkfeld of Harlan and Noah Sellner of Sleepy Eye, MN exchanged marriage vows on June 24, 2017 at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Portsmouth. Father David Smith performed the 3 p.m. double ring ceremony.    Parents of the couple are Bill and Brenda Arkfeld, Portsmouth; and John and Vicki Sellner, Sleepy Eye. 

Earling couple marks 50 years of marriage

EARLING -- Bob and JoAnn Koesters of Earling observed their 50th wedding anniversary on September 9. They celebrated with a family dinner in Minneapolis, MN.    Their children and spouses are Brian and Stacy Koesters, Lindstrom, MN; Jill and Dennis Hulsing, Prairie Village, KS; Steven and Melisa Koesters, Overland Park, KS; and Adam and Jennifer Koesters, Earling. Bob and JoAnn have nine grandchildren.  

Burnette-Nelson will marry in September

TREYNOR -- Jim and Tina Burnette of Irwin announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda, to William Nelson both of Irwin. William is the son of Randy Nelson and Joan Watson-Nelson, Irwin.    Amanda and William plan to wed on September 23 in a ceremony at Prairie Crossing Vineyard and Winery in Treynor. 

Former Harlanite Richard Pauley marks 90th birthday

    LINCOLN, NE -- Former Harlan resident Richard Pauley will mark his 90th birthday on September 23. His family is planning a card shower in his honor. Cards will reach him if sent to 7200 Van Doran Street #271, Lincoln, NE 68506.    His family includes wife, Marianne; children Dave and Donna Pauley, Joni Pauley, Jill Pauley and Michela Bahensky all of Lincoln. Richard has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Tremels will celebrate 50 years of marriage

DUNLAP -- Jerry and Jane Tremel of Dunlap will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 24 beginning with a Mass at 12:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dunlap followed by an open house from 2-5 p.m. at the Gold Slipper in Dunlap.    Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts. 

Juhl-Holton announce September wedding plans

SHELBY -- Jessica Juhl and Keagan Holton both of Underwood will exchange marriage vows on September 16 at the United Lutheran Church in Shelby.    Jessica is the daughter of Lisa Juhl, Shelby; and Jerry Juhl, Persia. Keagan is the son of Rhonda and Chris Buck, Tennant; and Rick and Jen Holton, Wheeler, IN.

ELK HORN -- Defiance native Marlene (Schaben) Christensen will mark her 80th birthday on September 16. Her family is planning a card shower in  her honor. Findlay-Erwin will wed in October ceremony

RURAL SHELBY -- Amanda Findlay and Marcus Erwin both of Harlan plan to marry on October 14 at the Willow Creek Glass Chapel near Shelby.    Parents of the couple are Sara Findlay, Panama, and the late Cole Findlay; and Terry Erwin Sr., Harlan; and Cheryl Erwin, Council Bluffs.

Blums celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

WESTPHALIA -- Gene and Jackie Blum of Westphalia marked their 50th wedding anniversary on September 2. They celebrated at a family celebration.    Their children are Scott Blum, Urbandale; Jeff Blum, Manilla; and Marcy and Tom Muenchrath, Earling. The Blums have eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Gene trucks and farms.
