Jonathan is the son of Jim and Karen Hackbart, Plymouth, MN.

    HARLAN -- Ashley Bruck and Jeff Petersen both of Harlan exchanged marriage vows on May 21, 2016 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan. Father Frost performed the 2:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.    Parents of the bride are Jim and Julie Bruck, Harlan. Parents of the groom are Gaige Petersen, Harlan; and Deanne Kroger, Harlan.

    SHELBY -- Glen and Marlene Hipnar of Shelby will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on August 5. They will celebrate with their family in August.    The couple’s children and their spouses are Cindy and Ed Elseman, Avoca, NE; and Dave and Pam Hipnar, Vail. Their daughter, Patti Whitmore, is deceased. The Hipnars have four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

    HARLAN -- Kevin and Carol Chadwick of Harlan will observe their 40th wedding anniversary on July 30. Their family includes Jenney and Chris Kelly, Mandy Chadwick and Ryan, and Kris Chadwick and Ashley all of Harlan.    The Chadwicks have six grandchildren. Kevin Chadwick and Carol Davidson were married on July 30, 1976 in Harlan.

    HARLAN -- Donald and Linda Wright of Harlan will mark their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house and card shower at their home, 1208 Lincoln Ave, in Harlan on Saturday, August 13 from 2-4 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.    The couple’s children are Brad Wright and Brenda Chadwick, Harlan; Brendt and Jennifer Wright, Portsmouth; and Laurie and Justin Smith, Sergeant Bluff.

    HARLAN -- Marvin Bissen of Harlan will celebrate his 90th birthday on Sunday, August 7 from 1-4 p.m. at an open house at the Therkildsen Activity Center in Harlan.

    OMAHA -- Caitlin McCarthy and Thomas Gruis both of Omaha were married at St Pius X Church in Omaha on March 5, 2016. Rev. Carl Salanitro performed the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony.    Parents of the couple are Gerald and Deborah McCarthy, Avoca; and Todd and Jane Gruis, Clear Lake. 

    HANCOCK -- Virgil Hildebrand of Hancock will observe his 90th birthday on August 1. His family is planning a card shower in his honor.
