HARLAN -- Fred and LaVonne Fox of Harlan will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 25 from 1-4 p.m. at an open house and card shower at the Therkildsen Activity Center in Harlan. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.    Their children are Ronald and Val Fox, West Des Moines; and Julie Fox and significant other, Keith Schaben, Denison. Fred and LaVonne have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

    DES MOINES -- John and Linda Helling of Harlan announce the engagement of their daughter, Carly Jean Helling to Justin Cole Brinker both of Ankeny. He is the son of Carol and Lanny Bauer, Webster City; and Mike Brinker, Grimes.    The couple will marry on July 2 in Des Moines. 

    AUDUBON -- Ashlyn Spies and Sean Birks both of Audubon will exchange marriage vows on July 23 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon.    Parents of the couple are Randy and Lynn Spies, Audubon; and Randy and Rachel Birks, Irwin.

    WAVERLY -- Former Harlan residents Patrick and Jo Ann Kluesner of Waverly will mark their 50th wedding anniversary on June 18. Their family is planning a card shower in their honor.

    HARLAN -- Russell and Deloris Adams of Harlan will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary at an open house on Sunday, July 3 from 2-4 p.m. in the McKee Room at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan.     HARLAN -- Frank and Shari Heese of Harlan announce the engagement of their daughter, Carly to Greg Conry, son of Tom and Lisa Conry, Harlan.    The couple will wed on June 25 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan.

    HARLAN -- Craig and Judith Olson of Harlan announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Kathleen to Bryan Nicholas Lucke of Omaha. Bryan is the son of Kevin and Sharon Lucke, Harlan.    The couple plans to marry on July 2 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan.

    KENNARD, NE -- Bill and Joyce Wrich of Kennard, NE will mark their 60th wedding anniversary and Bill’s 80th birthday on Saturday, June 18 beginning at 2 p.m. at an outdoor open house at the Wrich farm (4187 County Road P25) south of Kennard.    Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Their children are Don and Jennifer Obrecht, Harlan; Chuck and Renietta Obrecht, Harlan and Gregory  Obrecht (deceased). The Obrechts have seven grandchildren.

    RURAL PERSIA -- Roger and Beverly Paul of rural Persia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 12.    The couple has two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannette and Greg Derner, Stuttgart, Germany; and Pamela and Dr. Eric Petersen, DeWitt, IA. The Pauls have 11 grandchildren.
