DUNLAP -- Robert and Mildred Cogdill of Dunlap observed their 70th wedding anniversary on July 10. They celebrated with a lunch, card shower and many phone calls from friends and family. 

    DES MOINES -- Jordan Brelje of Cedar Falls and Colton Cornwell of Waterloo exchanged marriage vows on April 28, 2018 at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. Deacon Fred Cornwell, grandfather of groom, performed the 1 p.m. double ring ceremony.    Parents of the couple are Timothy and Becky Brelje, Harlan; and Ron and Chris Cornwell, Elkhart, IA. 

    RURAL SHELBY -- Carl and Carmin Brown of Harlan announce the engagement of their daughter Taylor to Casey Schulte both of Cedar Falls. Casey is the son of Daryl Schulte, Foristell, MO; and Christine Richter, Cottleville, MO.    The couple will exchange marriage vows on August 4 at Willow Creek Glass Chapel in rural Shelby. 

    HARLAN -- In celebration of Leroy and Phyllis Larsen’s 60th wedding anniversary on July 27 their children will honor them with a card shower.     HARLAN -- Steve and Dianne Lawson of Harlan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house on Saturday, August 18 from 2-4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Harlan. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.    Their family includes Ronda and Dan Evans, Harlan; Ryan and Lindsay Lawson, Earling; and five grandchildren.

    RURAL HARLAN -- Aaron and Erin (Schneider) Erickson of Castana plan to renew their marriage vows in an outdoor ceremony on July 28 at the Schneider farmstead in rural Harlan. Aaron and Erin were married in a private ceremony on November 5, 2017 honoring Erin’s grandfather, Charles Schachterle.    Parents of the couple are Allen and Susan Schneider, Harlan; and Barry and Marjorie Erickson, Castana.

    PANAMA -- Joe and Pat Michels of Panama celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Pizza King in Council Bluffs on July 7.    Their family includes Dana and Mark DeRoin, St. Johns, FL; Chery and Kent Andersen, Kirkman; Michelle and Brian Wageman, Panama; Danny Michels and Holly Rihner, Harlan; Jim and Jena Michels, Ankeny; and 13 grandchildren.

    EARLING -- Makayla Tremel and Alex Kintner both of Harlan will exchange marriage vows on August 4 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling.    Parents of the couple are Mike and Mary Tremel, Earling, and Larry and Anne Kintner, Harlan.

    HARLAN -- Bonnie Larsen of Harlan observed her 100th birthday on July 11. Her birthday milestone was celebrated with family from California, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas, Oregon and Harlan.    Bonnie’s family includes Randall and Mary Armentrout, Harlan, two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

    PORTSMOUTH -- Bill and Brenda Arkfeld of Portsmouth announce the engagement of their daughter, Renae to Derick Frederick both of Randolph, NE. Derick is the son of Konnie Frederick, Randolph; and Eric Frederick, Randolph.    The couple plans to marry on August 11 at St. Mary’s Church in Portsmouth.

    WESTPHALIA -- A renewal of vows and marriage blessing for Mary Schechinger and Daniel Olson both of State Center were held on April 21, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia.    Father Ross Epping of Bettendorf performed the renewal and marriage blessing ceremony.

    PANAMA -- Glenn and Mariann Wingert of Panama announce the engagement of their daughter, Christine to Braden Vermeys both of Lake Park. Braden is the son of Keith and Ann Vermeys, Battle Creek, IA.    The couple will exchange marriage vows on August 25 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama.

    SUN CITY CENTER, FL -- Former Harlan residents Dean and Darlene Philson of Sun City Center observed their 70th wedding anniversary on June 27. They have been celebrating with more than 30 family members in Sun City Center during the past week.    The couple’s three children and their spouses include Steve and Pam Philson, Lincoln, NE; Michelle and Greg Caudill, Manassas, VA; and Kim and Ken Conte also of Manassas.
