EARLING -- Leo and Rosemary Hahn of Earling will mark their 60th wedding anniversary on October 29.        Their family includes son, Mike Hahn, Earling; daughter, the late Patti Hahn, and two grandsons.

    HARLAN -- Bob and Melissa Golden of Harlan will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary today, October 23.    Their family includes Rob and Deb Golden, Harlan; Dawn Golden, Harlan; and Doug Golden, Denison; and four grandchildren.

    HARLAN -- Les and Janet Blum of Harlan observed their 50th wedding anniversary on October 9. The couple celebrated their anniversary with their family at Honey Creek Resort at Lake Rathbun this summer.    The couple has four children: Todd and Karla Blum, Harlan; Brad Blum, Shelby; Nicole and Jeff Steenbock, Springfield, NE; and Kelli and Matt Rueckert, Ossian, IA. Les and Jan have 10 grandchildren. 

    HARLAN -- Dennis and Carol Woodin of Harlan will mark their 50th wedding anniversary on October 23. Dennis and Carol plan to celebrate their anniversary with a winter cruise.    The couple’s two sons are the late Ron Woodin and the late Randy Woodin. The Woodins have two grandsons. 

    ELK HORN -- Jim and Kelly Schwarte of Elk Horn announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara to Ryan Rasmussen both of Lincoln, NE. Ryan is the son of Randy and Carmen Rasmussen, Jacksonville.    Sara and Ryan plan to wed on November 7 at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church. 

    HARLAN -- Brandt and Stacy Ferry of Kirkman announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel to Alec Guttenfelder, son of Doug and Teresa Guttenfelder, Atlantic.    The couple will exchange marriage vows on November 14 at the First United Methodist Church in Harlan. 

HARLAN -- Ron and Bev Jensen of Harlan will mark their 65th wedding anniversary on October 22. The Jensens plan to celebrate with family.    Their family is planning a card shower in their honor. Cards will reach them if sent to 610 Maple Road, Harlan, IA 51537. 

    PANAMA -- John Franklin Jr. and Mary Ann Wendt of Panama will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on October 18 at a private family gathering.    The couple has four children: Marlys Wendt, Des Moines; Valerie and Chad Kluver, Portsmouth; Johnny and Erin Wendt, Gilbert, AZ; and Dennis Wendt, Cedar Rapids. The Wendts have nine grandchildren. 

    GILBERTVILLE, IA -- Terri Oltrogge of Des Moines and Michael Weis of Ankeny will marry on November 14 at Immaculate Conception Church in Gilbertville.    Terri is the daughter of Philip Oltrogge, Waterloo; and Carol and Bruce Jordan, Jesup. Michael is the son of Bob and Donna Weis, Harlan. 

WILLIAMSBURG -- Elizabeth Veldboom of Grinnell and Nathan Brace of Dubuque exchanged marriage vows on July 18, 2015 at Harvest Baptist Church in Williamsburg. The 4 p.m. double ring ceremony was performed by Pastor John Sauser of Harvest Baptist and Pastor Joe Earle of Grace Baptist Church in Harlan.    Parents of the couple are Lance and Megan Veldboom, Grinnell; and Todd and Beth Ann Brace, Defiance. 

    SPRING, TX -- Former Harlan resident Stella (Bissen) Hodapp of Spring observed her 93rd birthday on October 3.    Her family is requesting a card shower in her honor. Cards will reach her if sent to 75 Marabou Pl., Spring, TX, 77380. She resides with her daughter, Jeanie.      

    PERSIA -- The family of Clarence “Sonny” Busch is hosting a card shower in honor of his 85th birthday on October 20. Cards will reach him if sent to PO Box 205, Persia, IA  51563.    Busch is a former postmaster at the Harlan Post Office. He was postmaster in Persia, Harlan and Council Bluffs before retiring in 1989.

    EARLING -- Charles and Marie Klein of Earling celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 6 with a family dinner at a local restaurant.    Their family includes: Judy and Russ Heese, Earling; Steve and Betty Klein, Earling; LuAnn and Ron Kramer, Earling; the late Tim Klein; Vicki and Kyle Miller, Kiron; Jeff and Cindy Klein, Earling; Mark and Cathy Klein, Dunlap; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

    OAKHURST, TX -- Former long-time Harlan residents Ron and Jackie Nelson of Oakhurst, TX will mark their 50th wedding anniversary  on October 9.    They plan to have a small family gathering to celebrate on that day with their three daughters: Wendy (Mike) Steen, Rockwall, TX; Jill (David) Goetz, Spring, TX; and Kirsten  Nelson and special friend, Wahlon O’Neal, Seneca, MO.  The Nelsons have one granddaughter.
